AURORA DIVISION SPONSORS

Please join us in thanking the following for their kind contributions to the Aurora Division. Their support allows us to provide a cost-effective program with unparalleled opportunities to our cadets. The Aurora Division would have capsized long ago without this help. As they say in the Navy, BRAVO ZULU to our sponsors.

The Internal Revenue Service has determined that the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps Aurora Division is "...exempt from federal income tax under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in section 501(c)(3). ... Donors may deduct contributions to you as provided in section 170 of the code." (excerpts from our IRS Letter of Determination, which is available upon request)

Please contact Commanding Officer LT(jg) Catheine Cabe if you are able to help us. General contributions are always welcome, but if you would like to sponsor something more specific, click here to see our "wish list."

Events -  Manatra weekend:  This is for an annual weekend cruise aboard the YP-671 Manatra III, a former Navy Yard Patrol boat, on Lake Michigan. The cadets ARE the crew for this cruise. [food $10/cadet/day X 20 cadets X 2 days = $400] 400.00
Events -  Manatra 4-day:  This is for a longer cruise aboard the YP-671 Manatra III during the summer [food $10/cadet/day X 20 cadets X 4 days = $800] 800.00
Events -  Flagship:  This is our annual regional training/competition in various seamanship skills conducted annually at Great Lakes Naval Training Station. In 2003 the Aurora Division took first place in firefighting, and fourth place overall (out of 13). [training fee $20/cadet X 20 cadets = $400] 400.00
Events -  Summer Bivouac:  This is for an annual summer bivouac (i.e. campout) which generally mixes community service with field training exercises [food $40/cadet X 20 cadets = $800] 800.00
BDUs (40 sets @ $20 [incl. tapes & flashes]):  While we do not routinely issue BDUs, these would be temporarily issued to cadets wishing to attend trainings that need them, such as SeaBees, SEALS, Master at Arms, and Amphibious Operations. 800.00
Events -  October Bivouac:  This is for our annual Columbus Day Weekend bivouac (i.e. campout) which generally mixes community service with field training exercises [food $15/cadet X 20 cadets = $300] 300.00
Events -  November Great Lakes:  This is an annual regional training in various seamanship skills conducted annually at Great Lakes Naval Training Station. It covers similar skills to Flagship, allowing the division to interact with cadets from around the region but in a non-competitive environment.  [training fee $15/cadet X 15 cadets = $225] 225.00
Membership & Uniform Scholarships Annual (5/yr):  Would allow financially needy youth to join the Aurora Division, providing them with positive role models to encourage a drug-free, gang-free lifestyle. Recipients of these scholarships will be required to perform community service hours in return for this funding. 500.00
TWT Travel Scholarships Annual (2/yr @ $250):  Would allow financially needy cadets to attend out-of-state summer trainings, enhancing their experience and broadening their horizons. Recipients of these scholarships will be required to perform community service hours in return for this funding. 500.00
Local Travel Expenses (van rentals, etc.):  For field trips to area activities, Great Lakes Naval Station, etc. 1500.00
Patriot's Tour:  This is a dream of the CO's; this would be a trip to Washington DC to learn about our country's naval and patriotic heritage. 7500.00
Website Hosting & Domain Registration Fees (Annual) 150.00
General Funding (Annual) 1500.00
Membership & Uniform Scholarships Endowment (4-5/yr):  The goal here would be to endow a fund to be used for scholarships as described above. The principal would remain in an interest bearing CD or other investment, and the annual interest would be used for scholarships. 10000.00
